MLT-2 Overview

(Note: Support for MLT-2 will end on 30 September 2022)

MLT-2 is an Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) and Physical Inventory data collection application developed in-house by NCG Consulting Inc.

The following video provides an introduction to the capabilities and potential of the application. Video is best viewed full screen and with audio enabled.

Physical inventory data collection
MLT-2 has built-in parsing capability and includes functionality for collecting barcode scans and comparing them to the warehouse inventory (LX02) data in the database. This gives the user an offline physical inventory validation capability and support for a Location Audit Program (LAP).

Other features included are the ability of distributing the data collection effort among several users and consolidating the data from multiple users into one machine. This would enable automated posting of physical inventory data to Navy ERP when and if capabilities such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA), SAP Scripting, or other automated interfaces are enabled or integrated with Navy ERP.

Label printing
The ability to print labels is a feature of the application. The application allows for the printing of material labels and bin labels. In anticipation of changes in Navy ERP, the capability of printing 2″x4″ labels was added. Once Navy ERP adopted a 3″x5″ dual label design, we added that capability as well. Therefore, the application offers 3 label options compatible with Navy ERP that should be able to fit most warehouse requirements.

Requirements
There are two separate versions of MLT-2 and users can choose to run either or both versions on the same machine: a stand-alone .NET application, and a MS Access Executable. The latter was developed in order to ensure maximum portability on Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) machines, since it requires no installation and no administrative privileges to use the program. Neither version is dependent on network connectivity for normal operation.

In order to take advantage of the barcode scanning functionality, a built-in, tethered, or bluetooth 2D barcode scanner is required.

Users and organizations that are able to administer their own devices can take advantage of the .NET version of the application, capable of running on tablets and other mobile devices running Windows. An Android data collection app is also planned for future development.

Note: this version auto-expires on 9/30/2022
